Daily Challenge
Last updated: 2026-08-18Daily Challenge gives everyone the same puzzle set each day: 5 tenpai + 5 discard questions. Build a habit, then compare correct answers and time on the day leaderboard.
Rules at a glance
- Day boundary: UTC calendar day (
YYYY-MM-DD); the page shows about when the set rolls over in your local time - Set size: 5 tenpai (13 tiles, pick waits), then 5 discard (14 tiles, pick the cut), Simple difficulty
- Same puzzles: Seeded by date so every player sees the same sequence that day
- Anonymous play: Finish and see local results without signing in
- Signed-in ranking: First submit of the day joins the day leaderboard and counts toward your training streak; you can also submit after finishing anonymously then signing in
- Leaderboard order: Correct count first, then shorter total time, then earlier submit time
- Results survive refresh: Your score is kept locally (and on your account when signed in); reloading returns you to today’s results without replaying

Why tenpai and discard only
Daily Challenge is for all mahjong players, not only one ruleset (riichi, MCR, Sichuan, and others). Tenpai and discard efficiency are shared skills that do not depend on each game’s yaku or scoring tables. Rule-specific drills such as yaku recognition and fu/han/points stay in their own modes (/training/yaku, /training/score) and are never mixed into the same-day set everyone shares.
How to play
- Open the Daily Challenge page; the app builds today’s 10 questions from the UTC date
- Answer in order; each submit shows feedback before the next question (Enter / Space advances)
- On the result screen, check correct count, wrong count, and total time; signed-in users can open today’s leaderboard
Only one official score is kept per user per day; later submits do not overwrite. v1 does not include past-day review.
