Chiitoitsu

Last updated: 2026-08-18

Chiitoitsu is a special winning shape: seven distinct pairs in a closed hand — fixed 2 han and 25 fu (not rounded to 30). See Riichi Mahjong Yaku Guide and Fu Calculation Basics.

Requirements

  • Closed hand
  • Seven pairs of seven different tile types
  • Four identical tiles cannot count as two pairs (four of a kind may be iipeikou/ryanpeikou instead)
  • 2 han, 25 fu

If the shape qualifies for ryanpeikou, take ryanpeikou (higher han), not chiitoitsu (ryanpeikou not a separate article in this batch).

Valid example

Seven distinct pairs — chiitoitsu. 25 fu, 2 han.

Invalid or confusing

Man 112233 is two identical sequences (Iipeikou shape) — four melds + pair, not chiitoitsu.

Stacking and open hands

Chiitoitsu does not apply after melding. Dora, riichi, and other situational yaku can stack. Fixed 25 fu feels different from 30 fu pinfu in play.

Scoring

Chiitoitsu is a fu exception at 25 fu. Base points differ from 2 han 30 fu — practice with the Score Table and Fu Calculation Basics.
